Gabe's Introduction

So here goes the first post to this blog featuring Daoster, Bobby, and myself. We all share the same interest and excitement for various musical styles. So whenever we have something to say about something we hear, we have a place to do so with this blog thing.

I've always been a fan of various musical styles. Like most people growing up I listened to everything everyone listened to around me. R&B, Soul, Pop, Hip-Hop, Rock, New Wave, etc...
In middle school it was all about hard rock, speed metal, and grunge for me. Bands like Helmet, Nirvana, Anthrax, Pantera, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and the like. Then in high school some friend and I stated getting into punk rock. And in true teenage fashion I soon did away with any music that was not punk rock! Everything from The Clash, Bad Religion, The Exploited, The Business, Sub Humans, and G.B.H to current bands at the time like The Vandals, Rancid, Nofx, Pennywise, and so on. We even started a band and played a few gigs.
Then a friend of mine ave me some mix tape with live recordings of Mobtown, Lets Go Bowling and I for get who else...I was hooked on Ska music. Started asking around from more ska music. Picked up The Specials, and all the 2 Tone records, and played them till they were unplayable. Bands like Operation Ivy, The Toasters, Hepcat, SkinnerBox, and all those great Moon Ska comps kept me busy.
I rember going to record shops and spending all my min wage money on new cds and tapes of allot of bands that I had never heard. I would go by what I had seen in a catalog or flyer. Or maybe what I read about in a magazine. It was great, there wasn't all this I heard that on the internet stuff we have nowadays. Although it was have been nice as I did pick up a few duds.
As time went on I delved deeper into the roots of ska and reggae.
And as you know it's one of those things that just sticks when your a music lover. So thats what this is all about...the podcast, the blog, and various other projects. You hear something you wanna tell your friend about it, make 'em a mix tape, take 'em to a show.

With this blog we hope to do some reviews of new releases and incorporate these with the podcasts. Give an opinion and a listen. Maybe help people find some good music or a musician find a new fan.
Keep your eyes and ears tuned for good things to come.
